I played for a while in school (maybe 14-16?) and these things where the future. I'm talking massive money for a set of irons, at a time when disposable income was not what it is now

I saw them today 4-pw (I think, maybe 3 or sw as well) looked in v.good condition for £80

would you buy them?

I too lusted after these clubs as a youngster. So when I got back into golf, I bought some and love em. (See my signature ) I must admit I wouldn't choose the Eye 2 woods over todays offerings though lol.

You seriously yearning to go back?

I'm not sure mate... But I'd definitely have them back for the spares corner

they wouldn't be a replacement, more of an indulgence. I love the cbs, even managed to pick up the gap wedge for £25. They are staying

Good sticks them, good enough to get me to 8, would have got me lower.

Depends how old they are. Some of them have illegal grooves and the clubs have to be sent back to Ping for correction. If they have already been re-grooved, there will be a mark on each club. Look on the Web for the complete info. Also make sure that the loft/ lie are correct for you. They are marked with coloured dots. Again, you can get the info on the website. If everything is correct then I suggest that they are very good irons, many would say they are the best that Ping ever made.

Only if they were BeCu ones! But I might bite your hand off if they were at that price!

20 years ago I had a set of Zing2s... now they were the future. Still got them.

But as you say, things have moved on.

Had a set of these for best part of 15 years and adored them. Got to be honest though I never got on well with the wedges and ditched the sand iron after a week or so. Awesome out of bunkers but horrible for half and 3 quarter shots.

Now use i5 s which to me eye have a serious look of the eye 2 , just a little prettier. I got my i5s for less than a 100 quid.

You really cant go wrong with Ping irons but there is always that worry with eye 2s that you might by an "illegal one"

Eye 2+ irons (so marked when altered) are legal.

Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like them and the shafts and heads are in good condition, they should hit the ball as well as they did back in the day. There are still plenty of good players using very experienced irons out there.
