Morning all,

I'm in search of a new hybrid, mainly because I'm losing confidence in my current club.

It seems I can only get success with it when the ball is on the fairway with the ball level with my feet. (Not really what you want from a 'utility/rescure' club.

I've heard good reports on the Ping G20 hybrid and its also on offer at AG. But it still leaves me puzzled as to why you can't buy/pay for it on the AG website. When you select the club, it gives you a number to ring.

So what is the buying process like and how drawn out is it? If say I walked into AG this evening for the g20 hybrid, would I be walking out the store the same evening with the club?

Thanks

In person is fine, Ping just don't allow their equipment to be sold online. If you check the stock at your local store it shouldn't be a problem to drop in and buy it today if you so desire.

Ping don't sell online. You need to phone online retailers to place an order or go into a pro shop (ideally) or an store like AG. I always suggest trying before buying especially if you are ordering online so you can be sure the shaft flex is right and you are happy with the flight and the distance

Also protects people from buying fake clubs, so if you see a retailer selling new ping clubs online, something is dodgy. either they are fake or a not a legit ping dealer.

Brilliant. Thanks for that.

I'll go up tomorrow to get it tested/bought. I'd have gone tonight if it was going to take a few days.

It'll give me time to get to grips with it before next weekends comp and company golf days.

Although....

Golfbidder obviously buy standard clubs from Ping (or a wholesale outlet) and do sell new Pings online
Brand new G25 hybrids @£145

I would then question whether they are an authorised reseller then? surely Ping have these rules in place to protect their partners?

I'm sure we've covered this before but this statement can be a bit misleading. Ping do allow retailers to see their clubs online and there are trusted Ping partner web sites to do that. However I understand you have to do at least a static fitting over the phone so you can get the club best suited to you. Just because an online retailer has new Ping clubs for sale does not mean it is dodgy.

OK, fair point. i was meaning a straight purchase of typically less than rrp ones. as with anything, especially online. Buyer beware. if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

Again, that's just scaremongering. For example there's nothing wrong with this, in fact it looks like a bargain to me ;)

P.S For those of you who believe there's no such word a gullible in the dictionary, I am being sarcastic.

Then again you do wonder how many of these clubs are those that are made in China anyway, and they just continue running the factory at night and sell them direct.

I got an Abercrombie and Fitch hoody from the Silk Market in Beijing for a tenner, as that's what they apparently sometimes do with the clothes. So in the Silk Market they may be complete fakes, or they may be made in the factory that produces the real ones at night, but sold off the back of a lorry. You pays your price and takes your chances. But 5 years later the hoody is still going strong.
