I live in a village and an email went out about a week ago advertising a "Pilates for men" course. Having just managed to creep into the " old farts" team recently I decided to pop along to the taster session last evening.

The instructor collected all the completed forms and realised that the 8 of us who turned up had certainly made full use of our NHS system and everyone appeared to be the wrong side of 60!

However, we did the hour session, all very gently and boy I really enjoyed it and certainly feel good this morning, and ready for my first of 3 consecutive days of golf! Have/do any of you do it and do you feel it is beneficial in the longer term?

I have been doing Pilates for nearly 5/6 years now since my back issue - it was part of my remedial training after my injury after going through a spines rehab course. It is superb and helps your core a highly recommend it - would also recommend trying yoga , dynamic stretches and a foam rollers

If it didn't do it I don't think I would be able to play the amount of golf that I do

That's good to hear. I doubt I've enough hours in the day to do any other courses I seem busier in semi retirement than when I worked! I guess that you get to a stage where you know the drills well enough to do extra work at home that will be beneficial

Been doing yoga now for around 5 years.
Yes you do get to know more than a few stretches/ postures to do at home to target.
I have a 5/10 minute routine I do indoors before I go to play now.

I try and do a 5 min. stretching routine every morning.
My wife also bought Darcy Bussel's Pilates video, about 6 months ago - we haven't watched it yet!
 :)

Just started a class 2 weeks ago, got to say I am loving it. Obviously can't speak to the longer term but I have come away both times feeling great and wanting to practice at home.

Just think Chris, if we keep this going then in a few years we could be like Phil! ;)
