Mrs Slime has dropped her phone, yet again, and is now lunched.
I've plugged it in to my laptop and downloaded all the pics and vids she had on it, from the DCIM folder.
My question is .............................. where will I find a list of all her contacts and, if possible, her messages and message history?
The last thing she needs is to manually enter every contact that she can remember and then panic about one's she may have forgotten!
All genuine advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Slime.

If she saved them to the sim card then they will be on that.

Try the sim card in another phone either unlocked or on the same network.

If she has an apple phone they may be o the cloud (according to my daughter).

How are her contacts saved? Easy if to cloud (google/apple etc) or to Sim, if to the phone then the easiest way is to download one of the apps available that will recover them and load to the new phone

Sim card is in the new phone and shows nothing. :(

and if she has memory card in the phone some of the info might be on that.

She has no memory card.

I think you can export the messages and numbers to the sim card via the settings

The screen has been terminally damaged and we can't access her phone.

Contacts must have been saved to her phone.
How would, in simple terms, the bit in bold work, bearing in mind that her phone is not operational?

Oh, thanks guys. (y)

last time i had to do for the other half i downloaded a program onto the tablet, connected the 2 via a USB to mini USB and the program then searched the phone for info like contacts, photos, files etc which it then stored before allowing you to upload to the new phone. i expect the process is more advanced nowadays though

edit: shouldve said, you download the program/app not to the broken phone but to another device which you can connect to the broken phone

That's what I'm trying right now.
The problem is that the old phone isn't recognised by the program I'm currently using.
It says it's not recognised via the USB connection, yet my laptop can see it!

What phone has she broken and what is the new one? Modern iPhones can share contacts into a new phone just by them being next to the arch other. Once you start the set up on the new one and sign in it starts the process.

If not try taking it into a phone specialist they will be able to mirror the phones screen on their pc and get all the data you need.

She's changing from a broken Doogee BL5000 to a Motorola Moto G6.
We don't do anything Apple.

If it is wetter that a trouts tuppence, stick it in a jar of rice. The rice helps to absorb any damp. Then try again. Don't even have to be uncle bens.

Just sorted out my S10, Missis T has my iphone8, just sold her iPhone 5s and found a iPhone 3 in the box. Grand kids are playing with two old nokias. How many phones, and al bet there's some more about.
