I thought I heard or read somewhere that he only plays left-handed because he learnt by mirroring his dad's swing, and that he's right-handed for anything else.

Psoriasis is a bastard of an illness. I know of healthy young people who have spent a long-time bedridden because of the severity of an attack of psoriatic arthiritis.
There is also the skin-issue with psoriasis, the most common sympton which can also cause immense discomfort.
