Played in the King Trophy yesterday, which is our Main open comp of the year. Its usually 9 and under handicap wise.

The course is very tough at the moment as the fairways and greens a rock hard and the rough, is so thick it makes the US open look possitively easy.
To make things worse the wind must have been blowing at 35 MPH Plus , at least 4 or 5 club wind.

I came 82 out of 160.... on wait for it ..........

100 gross, CSS was 77 so reducion only. ;)

You knew when the two guys you are playing with both off +1 have 8 on the card on the 2nd hole its tough.

in fact we watched the 3 ball in front of us all hit 3 balls each of the 3rd tee and thats one of the easier holes.

I bet there's not many days you shoot 100 and don't go up 0.1

Anyone else have a tough day????

learnt my lesson in strong wind that a normal golf game goes out the window. all shots low and punchy as anything high just goes wayward. Putting is a mare on the links being so exposed. so I try to avoid it as its crazy golf and surprised they didn't make it non counting for handicap increases.

they did according to OP

Me too. Rock hard greens, 3 club wind and lost ball rough. I hobbled home to 83 despite playing great! They've purposely made our course more difficult this year, for the better in my opinion.

And I'm up to 6 for the first time since I was a teenager.

Yeah me, not on the golf course though. Ran 14 miles in Windsor Great Park this morning at 06:30, wanted to get out before it was too hot (yeah right!)

Doesn't sound tricky to me........

Virtually unplayable and a waste of time - Yes....

It was tough not doubt about that, but never a waste of time even a bad day on the links is better than none. Def not for the guy that won with a gross 74 off 3 a nice 0.6 cut for him;)

Thats the thing about golf on a links never two days the same, yesterday hardly a breath of wind...

Played the July Medal yesterday in sweltering heat. Handcap all used up by the 8th....it didnt get any better...

Didn't have the wind to contend with yesterday, which is unusual for our place, but the greens and fairways are like concrete and the rough in the trees is so deep and thick it's impossible to find a ball let alone play it. First tee time was 10 and I teed off about half past and by 11 the heat was almost unbearable. Drinking on every shot the other played and on every tee.
Strange that I managed to score a PB and played some of the best golf I ever have.

Yep, I didn't get to play at all :( I'd rather have been out shooting 100 than dragging my sorry carcass round IKEA with a 2 year old.

I did Southampton IKEA with Mrs SILH on late Saturday afternoon - it was dead quiet and there were NO QUEUES at checkout. I almost enjoyed the experience.

I think mine lasted to the 11th...:(

and likewise it didn't get much better - other than the 2 on 13 which at least got me £13 :) briskly followed by an 8 on 14th :(

after seeing some of the Score posted on HDID, i feel better in knowing it wasn't just me who struggled! and CSS was 3 over the SSS where usually it comes in one under.
