Good luck mate - glad you found something quickly

Utterly bonkers system, BT sack you, then re-employ you, still I suppose they save on benefits

Glad you've found something mate ,even if it is a gapfill

:)

unbelievable! BT not you. Delighted you have found something Steve but the BT process's are just unbelievable.

Hope you get the IT job soon:thup:

Sweet deal, I did have a feeling you were going to be sorted quick!

BT havent re-hired me, its a contractor so effectively I am self employed contracting on behalf of BT, its mad lol. Less responsibility, easier work as installation only.... jobs a good un :)

Daft system!

Who needs Bradford when you are contracting! Time is Money!

How does that affect the claim? Seems like just a method to reduce headcount without paying redundancy.

shouldn't affect it at all- he is still technically fired from that employer. He now acts as a self employed contractor and won't be under the BT headcount, therefore effectively he is just another supplier to BT and could be G1BBO Ltd as there are no rights or responsibilities owned by BT for G1BBO Ltd

I am still appealing out of principal as there was a few clerical cock ups leading to the decision but I am actually glad to be out of it, a former colleague called me today and said they are getting hell this week over stats and performance!

That's how I would expect/hope it would work. However, there's the possibility of (Big) BT deciding to not use a (small) supplier who is actively in dispute with them. I seem to remember similar things happening with BT eons ago (early 90s?). And if doing the same task as before there is no way to deem it 'redundancy' - which may/may not be good/bad/the intention.

As long as it works out, it's all good. But a payment from BT for the pain would be appropriate too. Of course, that's being chased by the Union, which is not something a contractor would get involved in, so another 'interesting' situation!

Time to contact an Accountant though G1bbo. There are tax savings to be made too, through the likes of Umbrella companies, but pitfalls as well (IR35 still exists in spite of Conservative statements that they'd repeal it - and replace with 'worse' of course!).

nah I will be paying an 'admin fee' and they do tax/ni monthly, much easier. Still hoping the 2 other interviews I have lined up come to fruition but at least my bases are covered.
