Watched a bit of the Valero Texas Open on Sky last night.


What a load of rubbish!!!


I'm not talking about the standard of golf, I'm referring to the multitude of ad breaks.
Obviously it's out of Sky's hands as the coverage is provided by Golf Channel and CBS.
How the heck do Americans put up with constant ad breaks every 5 minutes?
I'm hoping tonyj5 may enlighten us.


I lasted for around an hour before switching channels. Actually felt sorry for the Sky studio team who seemed to be constantly filling in the blank spaces where they should have been showing golf.
I know some golf is better than none, but come on ............ if it's scheduled for several hours, let's see some actual golf!!!

must admit apart from the majors I cant stand all the usa coverage due to advert breaks, can put up with it on the euro tour and the coverage standard is higher.

it's just as bad when the yank presenters throw in a blatantly obvious scripted sponsor link, and the constant mention of THAT FLIPPING blimp

I agree with DV I avoid the US converage as much as possible, even as far as watching the sky sports and Eurosport re-runs

One of the many reasons I love the Masters so much. They try to keep all the advertising as far away from the golf as possible.

Still though i have to agree with Basher....The Yank coverage is complete shoite!......If i wanted to see ads id just watch the shopping channel......Its getting stupid now.

I agree, it's dire. Watched a bit on the free net channels. It's one reason I will never have a Sky subscription.

I wish there was better options available for coverage. I was glad when the weekend of the masters came and I could switch to BBC for coverage. Don't know what I'm going to do during the Irish Open while watching it on the course. I'll be expecting an ad every 3 or 4 shots played.

Delay watching it for an hour then fast forward (x30 :thup through the adverts and Bobs' your uncle.

I guess the payers like playing for $6 miilion purses each week and the money has to come from somewhere.

Thing is in the old days it seemed the advertising was there to support the the golf. Now the golf seems to be just a vehicle for the ads.
