As a Christmas present my girlfriend is going to buy me a coarse of lessons, we live in Sunderland, so wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere to have lessons.

Looking at a coarse of around 5-6-7 lessons, I play fairly regular so wouldn't be a beginners coarse.

I have looked at Sunderland Golf Centre and also Ramside Hall as well, but any other ideas would be great.

Thanks in advance

Simon Robinson at Sharpley is excellent, also got Brian Ridley at Beamish or Close House have got special offers on, but bit of a travel

Thank you

I have actually just moved from Manchester, so I am new to golf in this area, only moved in November so haven't actually played a game yet

Me and Wayman are both members of Seaham, Sharpley is mainly pay and play and is a good course, drop a pm if you fancy getting out and we can try and arrange something.

I'd second Simon Robinson. He offers a lot of packages and will let you spread them out to your requirements. Also will produce a report after video lessons and send you a breakdown of what was discussed etc.

Steve McNally at the Sunderland Golf Centre is a very experienced teacher. I've had a few lessons from him & he has video & the usual analysis tools. He is a great proponent of an early setting of the wrists. Personally, I swing with very firm wrists & couldn't get away with his approach but he helped me a lot in other ways. If you're an early wrist setter you could do worse than give him a try.

Great, thanks everyone for the help, I will have a look at them all and sort out some lessons

And thanks for the offer of a game, I will come back to you on that, definitely up for that, I am a billy no mates now in the North East

If you are stuck for a game midweek, then I have plenty time on my hands after taking (very) early retirement last year. I have recently joined Arcot Hall at Cramlington which is 10 mins north of the Tyne Tunnel. Give me a shout if you fancy it.

Also follow the arrange a game section, I keep forgetting to. There are meets every so often up here and more further afield if you feel like getting exotic and heading to Yorkshire for example! I've only played one but it was a really nice day with friendly people. The intention after that game, late season, was that we would arrange gatherings at our own courses during the coming season. A good chance to play different courses.

Looking to do another NE Forum meet at Sharpley, (Guaranteed No Winter Tees or Greens) at the end of Jan beginning of Feb, all weather dependant,

Will deffo be up for that as long as you don't mind a novice with no official handicap coming along? Have been playing since last May, steadily improving, but a long way to go!

Anyone and everyone welcome:D

I had a tune-up lesson with Kevin Jackson at Ramside and would go back for further lessons if I felt them necessary as he made it so simple to understand what he was trying to change in my swing.....I just need to get it embedded and stop going back to my old habits!!

Only played there once, but I would potentially be up for that depending on the date and time and may also have my usual playing partner as well if he is available and you guys don't have a problem with him coming along?

I may not be playing the best as I haven't hit a ball since early December so I will have to try and get to the range a couple times before then
