Oh please!!

I will generally watch any televised tournament but this is a step too far.

Yes there are 3 of this year's Major winners competing but then so is Padraig the world number umpity odd and the whole thing takes place on a course designed to flatter wealthy American holiday makers.

Poor old Rob Lee and Ross Macfarlane are left to try and make it sound exciting and relevant.

Trouble with 24/7 sports channels is they have to fill their schedules but how about quality rather than quantity.

It's golf on TV. I'll watch it.

Is there another tournament on somewhere that you'd rather be watching, or is the choice this one or nothing?

Why wouldn't you watch it?

You've got 3 of the top 10 players in the world, current holders of the major titles, playing golf for your amusement. Add to that the fact they are miked up, so you get to hear a lot of what they say, so get a bit of an insight how these guys get the ball round the course and also interact with each other.

Personally, as a golf fan, im quite enjoying it, certainly better than watching some of the pish that's on tv.

Just been watching it, as I did last night. 2 of the best players around at the moment, Duffner who's been there or there abouts and Harrington - whats not to like. OK the cheesy amercian TV bits inbetween holes are a bit american but the golfs great, Rose and Scott played some great golf.

It's golf on t.v so I shall watch.

I think the miked up players are great, we can watch them and get an insight into what they are thinking about whilst chatting to caddies etc., I think this could be rolled out (imagine it at the Ryder cup)

I agree it's terrible viewing. It should be good, amazing course & the best players in the world.but it's just not.
People blame the switch to Nike on Rory's current blip. Bet Harrington would love such an excuse. 3 time Major winner currently ranked #101.

I ws watching it yesterday and witnessed some terrible golf. On a par three all fours players missed the green. Duffner came up short. Rose out the back. Scott in a bunker short and left and Harrington wide right down the bank into the sea! Harrington played a 2nd ball and missed the green ending up with a 5. Scot, took one out the bunker then two duffed chips before reaching the green. I didn't think Id tune in anymore but have I seen today that someone set a course record, all they had to do was break 90!

Okay so it wasn't brilliant golf, but it was still worth a watch, better than any of the rubbish soaps ( not that I watch any soaps, so I don't know if they are rubbish or not, I'm still digging aren't I? best stop) Good to hear the players around the course.

Hell Harrington was only there because Mickleson couldn't make it, came 4th and still netted 200K, not a bad pay day for playing like Hobbit :D

Thought it made for pretty dull and uninteresting viewing. And unlike others I didn't really like the 'miking up' - comments being made by players just seemed too contrived and false.

Just goes to show that you can fool some of the people all of the time.

Like SILH says the microphones merely promote banal comments, the course is pretty ordinary (most resort courses are) and there were only two players making a worthwhile go of it.

I enjoy golf on TV but it has to be "real".

Bloody hell miserable sods.

I thought it was great, Adam Scott's eagle on 17 was amazing. Why wouldn't you enjoy watching that?

hmmm - an eagle - did one myself not so long ago - Par 5 18th. Hit 260 yd drive into middle of fairway: 250yd blind dogleg 2nd shot to middle of green - was a bit short and left into rough - 30yd pitch out of rough into hole. Pretty amazing eagle I thought.

One good hole by one player does not great golf watching make - as my eagle did not a great round for me make.

Yep JR's 4 straight birdies were dull, as was the way he developed a hook and was fighting to make par on most of the back 9, I found it boring they way he lucked out and hit the flag to scramble a par on one hole.

But that can't compare to the tedium of watching Scott shoot a -7 64, hitting long accurate irons and bombing drivers off the tee, as he came from 4 shots back in the last 10 holes to steal the win.

The fact that the wind was blowing a gale and heavy rain showers made conditions unpredictable also added to my overall level of disinterest.
