PGA Cup

A low key tournament but a great achievement by "our" PGA professionals. The first time that they have won the cup on US soil. I was watching with interest (via the PGA website updates) as my coach was one of the players, and I have also had lessons in the past from the GB&I captain. The match went to the last putt of the last group. Unfortunately there was no TV coverage over here but I'm sure it was nerve jangling for all those involved.

I saw this to. Jason Levermore (who you may remember got a hole in one at the BMW a year or two back, thought he'd won the car, but the hadn't) is the East Region player, and he played all 5 games, 3 wins, 2 halves, and won his singles having been 3 down after 10 holes. His opponent finished the round 4 under par, and Levermore won it on the 18th, having had 2 eagles and 3 birdies on the last 8 holes.

Correct. Don't get to see him much in the summer though as he plays lots on the PGA West circuit.

Always good to win on foreign sole. Have to be honest and say I've not heard of this before

He's on my short list for my all time favourite golfer. Short hitter but great at scoring.
We played a practice round together for Open qualifying once, on a par 5 he hit driver, 3 iron, I hit driver 7 iron. He went on to play in the Open, I didn't get past the first stage.

It's a shame it's not publicised better, it's our "Club Pros" against theirs.
The standard is very high.

Really nice guy as well. Ribs me about how I manage to find fault with almost every shot I hit during the lesson, even if it is a good one.

Am I correct in thinking he's Welsh but works in Scotland?
Played against him in Turkey last year.

First time I heard of it was a few years ago when Jon first played in it. I think he played in it twice. I think he is the only person to win final qualifying for The Open two times as well. He doesn't hit forum distances but has one of the best short games that I have ever seen.

Yep, that's him. He qualified for The Open at Muirfield a couple of years back too. He does hit the ball forum distances, from what I hear.
