Out of nowhere I managed a new personal best in yesterdays medal. par 69 and I shot a 82 with an "8" at the 14th  Nett 64 Will be down club today to see my new handicap.

My previous best was a an 83 which I have shot twice in the past. Nothing close all year except a couple of buffers.

I havent been able to play many medals this year due to circumstances with uni, work and family but am well chuffed that I have managed a whopper of a cut a more realistic handicap for my level of playing.

Its finally going down the correct way.

What was my swing thoughts for yesterday... nothing but "its a swing not a strangle" allowing a nice light grip throughout swing.

On that point what level of grip pressure do you use for your putter, wedges, irons and woods and drivers.

Thanks to all the fellow forummers who have helped along the way. Now for an 81!

Well done mate. Always nice to shoot a PB. I feel like one isn't far away for me...Just waiting for it all to come together!

Wont' be long before you're sub-80!

Congrats on the nice scoring. :D

In regards to grip strength I was taught you should treat the grip the same way you treat a hammer. On the back swing you should have a nice positive grip (Not too hard but not too soft) then as you come start the downswing your grip should strengthen but not strangle.

Great shooting Tex! How many times have you gone over that eight in your mind???

nice one, must have been a very solid round with the 8 thrown in there.

I feel I am close to shooting a sub 90 with a few 94's and 95's with 2 or 3 horror holes each round.

Next step a sub 80 for you ;)

good luck
