I have been in discussion today with the Taylormade Rep about aquiring Taylormade stock to sell through Alchemy Golf.

I can obviously buy at trade prices now which is great

OR IS IT!
To much Temptation for me!

I have had my trusty old Taylormade Steelhead Driver for years now,by todays standards it is prehistoric but it suits me perfectly and dont struggle for length.
I have never even thought about changeing it until today.
The R9 Driver is whispering in my ear trying to tempt me to the bright skies of modern technology. If I have a go of one I feel my trusty old driver will never be the same again. The head will look tiny for a start.

Has anyone used one or even better got one.
Are they as good as they look and the hype leads us to believe with all this moveable weight milarkee

Not hit one in anger but got the lowdown from MikeH when I got the guided tour of the fabled GM store cupboard a few months back. It really does look the business and if you can get a shaft to suit I think it will be an asset in any bag. That said the R7 Limited with its 440 cc head is performing wonders for me at the moment and I would recommend looking at it although the shaft may be a tad to whippy (even in stiff) for you.

Not sure about the R9, but if my new 909D2 is anything to go by, you wouldnt go back.

i thought I hit my G5 well, but now, after a short while with my D2, its awesome.
Drove the front edge of our 290yd par4 14th tonight, so I think we are gonna get on well.

Gotta be worth a try ?

Surely you owe it to your punters to road test new clubs, ;).

Up until last year I wasn't a great fan of using technology, sticking with clubs which were perfectly decent and which suited me. But modern clubs are soooooo easy to use, once you dabble you won't go back.

Still not convinced by moveable weights tho' tbh.

yeah I sure everytime some new clubs land I wont be able resist road testing a few.
Thing is my driver keeps me in play which is the most important thing and whenever I try friends so called modern drivers they only go about 10 yards further.

That R9 though, just looks the bizzo, think im being seduced by its looks rather than its soul.

I've hit the R9 in anger now a couple of times and been really impressed with it. The contact was better than my current driver and the flight seemed more penetrating.

I also hit the R7 Ltd and Ping G10 and was also impressed with these but felt that the feel of the R9 was better - just have to justify the cost now if I plump for one

I've got an R7 Superquad which I tried for a while, but its not for me. I've come to the conclusion I prefer simpler more classic lines in a club, one where its dependant on me hitting the good shot, not the other way about.

Alchemy if you like your Steelhead then I dare say trying an R9 will not necessarily detract from the old steelhead driver.

I thought your username rang a bell! I bidded on a set of FPs (lost though!) a while ago before I got my c/f Ci7s.

It sounds like you've tried modern drivers before and found that they haven't tempted you away from your trusty friend, so unless the R9 really strikes a chord, in which case it might be worth switching, then I don't see the danger. It does look verrry nice though

Dont tell everyone about the perks Alchemy or they will all set up in business flogging golf kit :D ;)

If you want you’re customers to buy and move forward, maybe you need to also. I know a mate of mine, who plays North Berwick, 2 HC, and he’s just changed from a 10 year old callaway to a G10 with a red shaft. He claims another 20/30 yards easy and not long ago he said he wouldn't change.

Anyway, another subtle wee plug for alchemy golf.
