I was just wondering guys if you had any idea what a perfect club would comprise of? e.g should there be more than one course or just one course, a hotel or a snug club house etc etc...
two distinctly different 18-hole, a par 3 and a number of separate practice holes available to the pro's for lessons.
adequate putting greens/pitching areas adjacent to each course.
- Mixed comps, where you play with different people each week.
- Two courses, one 7000ish an t'other 6000ish with a few holes of 3 par standard for beginners and when you are short of time.
- 99.9% secure locker rooms with enough room for all or most members that need one.
- Easy access location, after a round I can meet the wife and we both can have a few drinks & a meal watching people come up the 18th and be able to get a taxi home and feel the car is secure (not that I drive yet, just in advance of the day I pass)
- Natural looking course, I want a course worked into the land not the land worked into the course i.e. yank style.
- Both Bay & grass driving ranges
- No joining fee but just enough subs to keep the unwanted away.
A well designed pair of courses would be good but failing that , a course that can be two courses by simple secondary tee locations and large challenging greens to take two flag positions.
A course that in the main has a shot off tee that enables all player standards to have a reasonable chance, then much more difficulty as you get nearer the green and on it.Some courses Ive played are very easy to play if you get off the tee well, to me thats more frustrating than challenging.
(Nothing wrong with the odd hole being oposite though)
A course that is well maintained.
A membership that is layed back, sociable and civil with all members without prejudice.
A variation of organised competitions.
Good practice areas, and putting greens made to a comparable standard of the course.
A basic form/card/instruction aid issued to all players before play, covering the basic expectations of all who play the course, such as behavior and play.
Biggest rewards in comps for the 18 holes of golf played rather than the hole in one or longest drive.( Im sure some seasoned players know what Im talking about.lol)
