Anyone have any opinions on this 9 holer? It is talked up on their website as being played by tour players when the PGA is on at Wentworth

I was there yesterday and managed to walk close to the 9th green and it looked awful and you couldn't putt on them. To be honest there was no green - it looked like fairway.

The weird thing is that the course looks mature and a decent layout - have they just neglected it?

That's been what it has been like every time I've been there (only a few times and quite a while ago) as well!

So simply neglect/other priorities imo.

Other parts of the place are very good, albeit priced accordingly plus! All Blacks often stay there - if they book in ahead of England!

it's an interesting little layout, but not to club standard. If you are staying at the hotel and want to stretch your legs and get some fresh air whilst knocking a ball around - it will be OK. The greens are not to club standard in any way, so don't expect anything outstanding!!

I was there with one of the NFL teams in 2011 and walked over to look at the course with some of the players to see if it was worth an hour of relaxation. Err no, it was crap then too.

Such a shame - layout looks ok in mature woodland

Greens are just non existent - I've seen better fairways on the better courses

Given it's a 9 hole course, the other facilities on offer at Pennyhill Park and the number of superb courses in the area, I doubt it would really be commercially viable to invest the necessary cash to get into great shape.

Given how nice the grounds are, and the likely grounds staff, how much effort would it really be to maintain 9 small greens, especially given how they portray it on their website -

"
the very best Major-winning players in the world have played the course including the late, great Seve Ballesteros and the brilliant Vijay Singh. And the current crop of top professionals can often be found on the Pennyhill links during the PGA championships held just down the road at Wentworth, not to mention the odd England rugby player here and there!"

I don't know the answer to that. Ask a green keeper, although I doubt they'd be that impressed if you suggested their job could be done by a gardener.

"Can be found on the links" - that is just priceless. OK so basically they went for a walk across it whilst staying there, realised it was crap, and then returned to the bar.
