I set myself a goal to break 90 this year, and have been working hard to get there. Weekend before bank holiday I shot 90, and although I was pleased I was kicking myself for having 2 bad holes, a 7 on a 4 and a 7 on a 3!

This weekend, with the sun shining and the swing warm and putting keen, I shot 85 on Saturday and 87 on Sunday. I couldn't be more pleased, once was nice but twice was fantastic!

I hope to keep the low 90's, late to mid 80's running for the rest of the year, then get a goal set for next year.

What's even nicer, is that I came so, so close to buying new irons after a fitting on a flight scope a month or so ago, but money was tight so I decided I'd hold off until later in the summer. I think I'll be keeping my irons now though, which proves that, sometimes, the kit you've got is the kit you need!!

That type of scoring is not reflective of your username!!!

Great effort!

Bet it's getting more difficult to remember the shots you could have played better!!!! A 70s round in sight this year?

I'd love to see a 70's round, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself this year I just want to maintain a good score week in week out.

I have a big 2 day competition at the end of July, it's a big family get together, with 9 of us, a big trophy, longest drive, closest the pin, all that. Last year I miserably won nothing and finished mid table, so this year my aim is to shoot well and try to win something from the weekend, if not the lot!!

Look, you got lucky one weekend and one swallow doesn't make a summer. So invest in some new clubs, just imagine how much better you would be with a new set of shineys with all that modern technology, all that increased forgiveness, all that jacking up of the lofts and lengthening of the shaft to hide the fact that the actual club head makes a very little difference at all.

Buy me they are saying, buy me, just think how good they will make you feel, how excited you will be when the clubs arrive and again when you take your first shots with them, how proud you will be with a brand new set in your bag. You know you don't need to buy them, but boy you want to.......

Personally I'd just buy some new Cobras just on the basis of Blair O'Neal's calendar, but then again I am shallow like that.

P.S I was joking about the first bit, well done, trust me, I know how hard it is myself to break 90. But still buy some new clubs. Lovely shiney new clubs ;)

Quality, HK

Well done dufferman. It's always good to finally break that barrier. Onwards and downwards now

I'll be honest, I read the first line and thought 'My God... this man's having a bad day...' :o

well done that man. you will no doubt still have the odd blow up, but try not to let it effect the rest of the round.

That's exactly my thoughts... I can't see me never shooting 100 odd again, but it should be on awful days rather than on average days. Off to the range tonight to keep the vibe from the weekend going!

Well done!

I never get bored of reading these threads , gives me more motivation to break my own goals!

Broke 100 earlier in the year , had 90 as my next target. Still to achieve this but well done with your effort,
