We've all come off thinking how much better it could have been, yesterday was one of those! Hit a pb at my course but could and should have broke 90. I only missed 3 fairways and was striking the ball the best I can remember! The problem was my short game, pitching was woeful and putting just as bad. The amount of thinned shots through the green or fluffed short was unbelievable. Now the putting was not all down to me, on the pitting green all was well sinking long putts or leaving them within a foot. The first green was 3 putted as were many more, mainly as they had been sanded last week and still hadnt bedded in yet.

So all in all I walked off a happy man but still thinking of what could have been if I had been able to pitch! Short game area this week I think!

had similar 2 weeks ago, went round in 91 and should have been at least 3-4 shots better, started off par, par, bogey, par, bogey so 2 over gross after 5 holes. I soon cocked it up with double, triple, double though

Take confidence in the fact you got a pb despite poor greens and some bad shots and concentrate on your short game a little more. It will all come together one round :)

thats why we are high handicappers, it reflects our current level of ability over 18 holes

Yeah had a horror through holes 2,3 &4. After that played pretty decent still can't get on with new driver though! The old one was showing it what it's supposed to be doing!

Well played on setting a PB fella but you'll always feel you've left shots out there. Even the pro's say that when they shoot a 65!!! Enjoy the progress and hopefully you'll break 90 next time out :)

Got a feeling I'm going to get bitten on Sunday! I'm hoping to keep the driver going which was putting me in decent positions to score but we all know what happens when we turn up at the course with expectations!!

Journal

Wrote the round up as my first journal too g1bbo. How did you get on with yours? I'm just using word and set up a template, it got a little long winded!! Started with dated and stats etc highlights and focus areas, it then ran into a blow by blow account of each hole! It did feel good to go through the round and disect it.

Well done. Don't worry about shots left on the course, nothing you can do about them. Just use the knowledge gained form the round to take forward into your next game,

I have adopted the above attitude and the results speak for themselves. PB after PB, another one today.

I think attitude helped too, I was playing solo behind 2 old guys so was just taking my time over shots, checking alignment etc. I wasn't beating myself up over poor shots either, as I had at least 3 holes on the group behind I'd just drop another and play the shot again proving to myself I can do it. Also as I was finding the fairways I wasn't looking for my ball in the rough etc!!
