Today I shot my lowest gross score at my course and consequently won the monthly stapleford with an outrageous 47 points. This win comes off the back of winning Club Championships Net trophy with a 66 (par 72) and winning August monthly Medal.

Let the cut commence!! I've been playing now for 18 months on a regular basis and 6 months into my 1st season as a club member with a proper handicap so life is good on the course at the moment.

Good scoring there, what's been the progress with your handicap, what did you start with and where are you now ?

Last year when I joined my friends society I started off 20 struggled all summer and rose to 21 but had a break through last winter when i brought my G20 irons and my results improved immediately and handicap dropped to 16.

In march this year I joined Nazeing golf club sumnitted 3 cards to obtain my 1st official handicap of 20.

I was playing good golf but wasn't scoring well in the comps until recently and my last 2 performances are a truer reflection of my ability gross 86 for net 66 in club champs course was set up very challenging all pins hidden away. Handicap dropped to 18 then 1st outing since I shoot a gross 79 to reach 47 stapleford points.

Taking away yesterday's performance I would say a competitive handicap would be 14 but will have to see how handicap secretary views my progress.

The 86 should trigger a flag for an ESR (Exceptional Scoring Reduction). The follow up 79 should then have the handicap software trigger the ESR which could be anything up to 2 shots I Believe.
