Went in the garage today to pump up my tyre, yes just one.
Minimum charge 50p,for air,so bloody mad.
Not just petrol prices ripping us off, charging for air now.
Just because its coming out of a posh machine.
And what about holding the prices of petrol, just gone up again.

I paid for water last week to fill up my washer jets. It cost me £2.00. Should of gone inside and brought some water cheaper and done it that way.

they charge as the equipment costs money to buy and maintain. If so angry buy a foot pump and get the old leg pumpin away haha
although its 20p round here 50 is a bit steep lol

most air compressors will last for years with no issues at all.daylight robbery if you ask me.

also if there is a repair garage on site the air compressors will be supplying their own equitment so technicaly its not costing them anything to supply air to customers,we had this at the fast fit garage i worked at back in 2003/2004 and we would never charge anyone in a million years for checking and adjusing their tyre pressures.

i think there is a law that states if they have an air compressor to inflate tyres and it is free it must be working at all times BUT if you have to pay they don't have to repair it as it is not classed as a service.

I agree this is a joke, I do my tyres all the time and every time I do it pee`s me off!!!

And..even if you take off all the valve caps and pull out plenty of that bloomin boa-constrictor of a hose before you start, the machine always stops before you can get round all 4 corners.

Exactly what I've done - not exactly the same one but similar.
The readout's buggered as it's so old so I have to check the pressure, pump it up, then check again.
Bit of a faff but at least I can check them when and where I want to.

Why are all the airpumps around here positioned in such a place that as soon as anyone stops there all exits from the Petrol Station are blocked..?

My brother had some tyres from Kwikfit the other day...when he got home & looked at the bill they had charged him to blow up the tyres he was paying £500 for from them....I know what I would have told them.

This but the other way round. If it's free it doesn't matter whether it works or not. If you have to pay for it it will by definition be more accurate as it has to be calibrated. I spent a few years working in a petrol station (for my sins) and the bloody air line was broken at least once a week. With a £100 call out for the repair man they have to charge just to cover that never mind the electric they use. Quite often the 50p fee is a deterrent to kids with bikes or TRAVELLERS with lilo's.
