Have to post my admiration for Mr Lawrie. The guy works tirelessly for both Scottish Golf and local golf in Aberdeen. The Paul Lawrie Foundation is a credit to him and his vision. This puts funding into every level of Scottish golf from juniors to Challenge Tour players to help them with costs. He sponsors and was instrumental in setting up the Ladies Tartan Tour.

If only other professional golfers put as much back into local golf. I would bet Paul Lawrie does more for golf in Scotland than the SGU!

He now has the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay at Murcar next week on the European Tour. I can't imagine it'll be anything other than a huge success.

Enjoy reading his Twitter feed and he appears to be doing great work for kids in golf

Looking forward to watching the Matchplay next week should be good

Really enjoyed his play and attitude at Medinah

Superb bloke, met him at Medinah (name drop) really genuine, hope his lads make it on to the tour

He does an incredible job with his Foundation, not just golf either they do all kinds of sports.

Incredible bloke really, deserves every placidity he gets.

Hope his matchplay event is a success.

I really like Lawrie, besides all he does for Scottish golf, he's quite humorous in interviews, which is a rarity in sport these days

My fav golfer by a country mile and fellow Aberdonian, met him a few times on the flight up from Heathrow, a gent and what he puts back in tells you he really has a great pasion for the game. If you pop to his driving range and he's there he'll happily chat to you, and he's got great taste in football teams!

Got my first lessons from him when he was assistant pro at Banchory.
A great guy and puts in an incredible amount of work.

It's just a shame that he gets a lot of stick on twitter. He does give as good as he gets though. It's quite entertaining sometimes lol. I was rooting for him at the Open. Chippie is a solid golfer.

I see in his event this week its a winner take all prize[is this the way to go to attract bigger names than he has.

I know last week in an interview he mentioned support from fellow RC players[are there any in it?

I feel going with a winner takes all purse bigger names have been put off.

Looking at the article on the GM website the top players entered are Levy and Howell - certainly lacking in top players

To be fair, most of the higher ranked players will be over the pond warming up for next weeks WGC and not playing for relative peanuts in Scotland or Madeira

I believe the event was organised to address the lack of matchplay on the European Tour. I would suggest Paul Lawrie is also a top player. Marc Warren is also a big attraction to the people of Scotland. John Daly, a double major champion is also a big draw. For a new tournament the level of field is more than acceptable.
