Off to a flier in Dubai -7 for his first round and has a 3 shot lead in the club house.

Just watching it,I didn't realise he has been injured.

Some roller coaster from Rory, trying to force it early doors kinda backfired at the 2nd!

Was hoping I could have the coverage on SkyGo at work, but it would mean un-registering one of my two devices I use at home! Switched it on this morning to see Luke in the cabbage (nice recovery though) and a stellar wedge shot from Rors into the 1st.

Paul Lawrie is one of these players people like to kick and knock without any reason. Lawrie has one of the best golf swings in the game. Streaky putter but when he gets it going with the short stick he can live with the best.

Love to see him upstage the Rory and Luke show.

Agree with you there Craw, saw him go round my place earlier this year and he birdied 7 in a row.
All the way round he was talking to members and having a laugh with everyone, he just made it look so easy.

I have always enjoyed watching his swing, thought he was one of the good guys too.

and with the warmer air the ball will be flying further than usual aswell.

Not necesarily true...

All balls have an optimum performance temperature of 70f.
Above this there is no discernible difference in performance.
Below 70f there is a marked decrease in distance which amounts to 1 yard for every 3 degrees below 70.

So endeth today's Science lesson......

so i'm right then....you take the crappy cold weather we tend to have here, then there is a noticeable difference in distance?and most of my friends who have played college golf in the states and a cousin who is a pro out there swears by this,he said he had work out all his yardages again.

Teacher teacher, I thought air density would have a bigger effect on ball flight...less drag=more length.

Yeah but they play in those sort of conditions week in-week out don't they. So it doesn't make a difference to them.

Oh there's a million and one other things that will Tommo but I was only on about the temperature bit....:p

i was thinking more about what tommo said, but said temp because i'm clearly not scientific enough lol

Have corrected it for you...have you actually looked at his record over the last 20 years....only outside the top 100 twice.....

No need to correct it I feel. He hasn't exactly been a regular contender injuries or not. Yes he is a consistant player (hard to call a major winner a journeyman) but never seems to be there on a Sunday and threatening the radar at the top of a leaderboard
