Paul Lawrie greetin re Ryder Cup 'Snub'

As far as I can tell his exact quote is....

"Extremely disappointed not to be involved at Ryder Cup but all the best to all of the European team,"

Hardly spitting the dummy out. Total non-story.

Not really, that was my first thought however when you think on it, he wasn't ever going to be picked for the team so he's aiming it at the lack of pick as a VC, does Des Smyth deserve it more?

I'd pick someone I trust and like before someone I did not have total faith in or know 100% well and I don't think McGinley and Lawrie are best of mates.

It's not about being deserved.

That is how I read it. If Luke Donald had said the same, probably did, would anyone read anything into it ?

Totally agree!

Des Smyth is there because McGinley relates well with him. VCs are not picked because of their current golfing ability/form!

Yep that seems the most sensible answer

Not doubting you, that post is aimed at Lawries thinking not mine. Should have been clearer

Hardly pistols at dawn.

The headline messes it up with the word "snub".

Not the right word really.

agreed. Hardly even worth a thread on it and certainly not embarrassing himself.

I believe Luke was also 'disappointed' and said in parting 'Go Europe'

Golfer tweets about disappointment of not being involved in biggest (team) golf competition on Earth when it's in his home country for the first and quite likely only time in his career and gets stick for it. Internetz drama

Poor, misleading journalism. Of course Lawrie was disappointed. It would be extraordinary if he wasn't. He wished the team well like you would expect. No issue whatsoever.
