Paul Casey

People soon forget that Casey was passed over twice for the RC when he was playing some superb golf running up to the events. I can understand his reasoning this time round for not making himself available.

I went off him when I saw him give an almighty rollicking to the marshalls at Wentworth on a BMW practice day "just because he could". He was a complete knob and I'm suprised they all put up with him

In all fairness to Casey, he had a rocky few years a couple years back when going through a divorce, constant injuries etc. He's now a settled man after marrying Pollyanna Woodward, and his results on the course have definitely picked up, which seems to prove the theory 'happy off the course, happy on the course'.

Fair play to him!

Good for him, but he is hated by most fellow tour pro's as far as I understand because of his attitude

Having picked up $1.83M in his last two outings, I am sure he will be crying in to his cornflakes about the RC or that other pros dont like him.
None of us will ever know the detail of whats really gone on with the whole RC situation.
Not one of my favourite players (although he won me some dough on Saturday night) but everyone makes decisions that other people dont like, often while not understanding fully why the decision was made.

MY FAVOURITE PLAYER,says what he feels and plays where he wants to play.so he dosent want to represent europe .so what neither do most brits living in this country ,if you remember we voted out of it.
as for being HATED by most of the other tour players ,well, i would say HATED is a very strong word to use against someone you dont know personally .
a lot of people on this site love Faldo ,well my personall experience of the bloke is somewhat different .
Seve is another case in point ,everyone loved Seve ,didnt they ? . well no they didnt ,the yanks werent very fond of him at all for being as some have stated about Casey ,being a knob .
everyone has differing ideas about people but i say walk a mile in their shoes before you comment about being a knob or hating someone .
yes we can dislike people ,im sure that their are more than a few that dislike me ,but im not sure anyone actually HATES me. and im sure the same could be said by yourselves .
this thread is almost like reading the Tiger thread ,cant stand him ,total knob ,big head arrogant .and everything else that is spouted about him .
how about a thread like this one was supposed to be when the OP started it . a thread about the form of a brit doing good over there, instead of bleating that you dont like him .

Not a favourite of mine and comes across as a spoiled brat at times. Think he should have made himself available for the RC

Cant really work that way though, pretty sure I'd be less than chuffed if I had to make myself available for some unpaid work I didn't really want to do (and make changes to my regular job to do it)

We didn't vote out of Europe, we voted out of the European Union. The UK will still be in Europe.....but that's a whol other thread :)

I agree with what you say. Casey has that self confidence, determined almost mean 'streak' that most top players have. I like that about him.

It’s easy to judge players when all we see a small moment of their lives or hearsay from other people. What do we really know about any of them? Frankly very little. Yet people feel the need to form polar judgements based on tidbits of information. Look at the recent thread about Sergio Garcia. Labelled a naughty boy because some can reel off a list of misdemeanours from nearly 20 years as aprofessional, one from when he was a teenager. How many of us can claim we have been better behaved over such a long period? Especially when of such tender years. Yet the old ‘he should be a role model’ is trotted out as a stick with which to beat anyone when it seems fit by people who seemingly expect sportsmen/ women to behave impeccably at all times. Maybe they were just having a bad day and the tolerance level was a little lower. We have no idea what has happened to them recently. But because they are famous and earn loads of money some seem to think they are immune to any problems or issues that might just effect their mood / general demeanour. There was an interview with Ruud Gullit yesterday on Sunday Brunch where he talked about fame, amongst other things. It was rather interesting.

Sooner or later there’ll be some moaning about players not having personality and being a bunch of robots. (criticism of Spieth comes to mind)

I'm only relaying what I actually saw for myself and what a couple of European Tour players and a caddy have said to me privately

fair enough Chris ,but the caddy talk is just third hand gossip isnt it?
as for your personal experience well that is just unfortunate that your opinion of him is based on such.
i dont think that Casey should have turned his back on the european tour ,but i will defend his right to do what he thinks is best for his home life and his game . just the same as i respect your opinions on him .at the end of the day it would be a pretty boring world if we all held the same opinions wouldnt it.
