The other week browsing on Ebay I bought a couple of Patrick Cohn books. Peak Performance Golf and Going Low.

Having read the first and well through towards the end of the second I feel that this is just what I need. Theres nothing about how to hit shots in either book. PPG shows how to practice, how to warm up, what diet, exercises etc. Going Low is totally mental with the goal of the process blocking out the score in the mind.

I will post a review in due course but first I want to implement a personal plan based on these books.

Anyone else read them and what are your thoughts?

I would say that they are worth getting - if you are serious about implementing some of the advice contained within.

I have taken key personal notes from both books and combined them. This has resulted in some mental notes, pre round warm up plan and an exercise/practise calender but as yet, due to a shoulder problem havent actually got going with practise or exercise. I am seeing a specialist on Tuesday so fingers crossed.

Plus they didnt cost a great deal on Ebay (I think I paid under a tenner for both).

I read "Going Low" a few months back and will probably have another read soon enough but some of the stuff in there had a very positive effect. Thought not speaking specifically about matchplay he referred to momentum. Okay so we all know what it is and what it feels like on the course, but the book really focussed me on how to run with it and more importantly how to get it back. Last week I won the club matchplay competition and several times the tide turned in my opponents favour and rather than panicking or revelling in bad fortune I was able to steady the ship and take back control. I put that down to this book, so yeah, worth a £5 to anyone I'd say. Fully intend to pick up Peak Performance now that the season draw to a close, with the last few rounds of the cup going well I didn't want to change anything!
