Patrick Cantlay

Makes Jason Day look speedy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Have you heard about his past couple years though ? On top of his horrific injuries he was out walking with his caddy and his caddy got knocked down and killed right in front of him - suffered from depression for a while as well.

I knew the first part, didnt know about the caddie incident no

Awful time for him - commentary was saying that he used to be a very quick player. Wonder if he has that back injury in his mind still.

Not sure, strange isnt it as I followed him a fair bit as an amateur and turned on tonight wanting to support him and after 2 holes was struggling to watch him.

Always difficult to separate things I guess but really does need to just get on and hit it at times. The back injury may be a niggle, may just be that the time hes had off the game hes "overworked" on the mental side/psr etc

Hadwin as bad to watch with his caddie clearly wanting to hit the shots for him!

thanks BIM, sad story :( on the plus side he should have secured himself a card tonight

You're welcome; doesn't make pleasant reading, does it? As Homer said, not sure how that impacts his speed of play but having read all of that I'd cut him a lot more slack than some others.

That guys been through it and a bit harsh to bash him, major talent and after watching him yesterday he clearly has a lot of game and a great career ahead in tour golf.

Was a fascinating final few holes. Shades of Phil/henrick, followed by two dodgy old bunker shots to lose it. They both look like they'll do well this season.

I really dont understand what you guys are getting at,they weren't penalised for slow play ,those two guys had never won on tour and were trying to keep steady to cope with it especially Cantlay after what he's been through. These guys are playing for a living and its tough the other side of the ropes, its not your local monthly medal .

It must all be relative, or the fact that TV shows more of the leaders faffing rather than just cutting to shots of others guys.

I watched the last group tee off at 6.55pm our time. Went away to do other stuff and when I came back at 8.25 they were on the 11th.

That's 10 holes in 1.5hrs.
Doesn't seem slow to me

Good to see Patrick lock up his card for the year. Should free him up the rest of the year, I expect a few more close finishes. He has the game to win multiple times on tour.
