After 30 years with the same caddy, this weekend we are done. I am sad about it, but it is now over. I have hit the ball consistently all weekend, and this complete idiot has given me the wrong club too many times. What possessed him to think I could hit a 54 degree wedge 100 yards? Why did he think that an 8 iron from 140, down wind was ever a good idea? The 4 iron on the 14th was just idiotic.

No, we are done.

Any ne else up for the task?

9.5?

I thought you were talking about your trolley there for a minute. So how you going to persuade the little sod not to follow you to the golf course?

I'm not sure. Probably go in disguise, so he doesn't recognise me.

More seriously, my club selection has been shocking recently. No excuses, using gps, and then pulling the stupidest club. Either way to big, or way too short, even if I flush it. On the ninth, short par three, hut at the back, I carried the hut with a Nine iron. So far in the woods, with no shot back. Par 3? Par 6 more like.

My caddy has had a few club selection moments recently as well. On Saturday he told me I could hit a 5i 186 yds, he knows I can't, not on the fly at this time of year but he told me anyway. He also told me I could hit my SW 97yds, which again he knows I cant. Luckily I rescued him with some inspired chipping but he cost me at least one birdie.

Maybe we should swap caddies, could be that we have got too close to our current ones :D

Had a bit of a club selection problem in my first winter league match on Sunday. Thought I would try out my new 56 degree sand iron and 60 degree wedge, so ditched my trusty 58 degree one. Two nice shots on the par 5 13th left me 75 yards into the wind. Just right for 58 degree wedge, but no idea which of the new ones to hit. Went with a smooth sand iron, which was still rising when last seen flying over the green into the jungle.:(
