Does anyone do their local Parkrun?
I took my son down to our local Taunton one this morning, his first one.
They are very well organised and the results system is so quick and easy.
It is done in age bands and he falls in the 10s and under.
Its 5k and ours is off road on a very narrow[2 people wide track] of hard mud with some bark track.
The big downside on this one was that there were 218 runners mostly doing it for fun as apposed to fast or racing and with the narrow track it was nearly impossible to overtake.
We started off way down the field and we were basically jogging until it spread out a bit.
We both did the first lap in 12.30 and then my son did the 2nd lap himself in 10.48 for 50th place.
Next week we will push up and start near the front and will aim for about 22 minutes which will be a good time for an 8 year old.
