Got a parcel the other day from My Hermes. They don't have a depot here so sub it out to god knows who.

We have a doorbell right in the middle of the front door, but the guy decides to bag his fists on the door like the flying squad of the 1970's during a midnight raid.

didn't wait more than 2 second s for the door to be opened and headed around the back. we have a big gate here to stop the dogs running out and has a bar across it that can only be opened from the inside. there is a sign on the gate telling you this and that there are dogs there.

so the guy must have just kicked the gate open and broke the bar which only really stops the gate being pushed from the inside. its there as one of the dogs jumps at the gate and pushes it open so this bar stops the gate being pushed open from the inside.

Parcel left at the back door.

Gate left wide open, we also have a metal driveway gates and a pathway gate. He must have come in though one gate and left though the other leaving both wide open.

so when the back door was opened both dogs got out and into the lane beyond.

Thanks Mate!!!!!

We're the same re Hermes sub-contacting out to a local courier, they've been ok for me but when selling stuff it's so slow, from pickup to delivery takes about 10 days within UK. Local courier never picks up on the day Hermes give me, always 2 days late or more. For buying I usually end up at the the local courier depot to collect, they dont try hard to deliver (no calls etc). Not a big issue as its close to where I live. Tiny margins in the competitve courier business I guess which leads to a poor to mediocre service.

However no worse than Royal Mail imo - recently I was in and heard letterbox open, wandered through and found a delivery card on the floor re a parcel, guy didn't even ring the bell or knock, went out and caught him coming back past along my road and got my parcel off him, no excuses made! Ridiculous.

Hermes have been good at refunding for breakages for me and I reluctantly accept the slow service given my location and the fact Hermes are very cheap.

I sell stuff from time to time and Hermes are fair on taking larger than accepted parcels sizes too, local couriers dont know the Hermes size limits so for things like skis which are oversize they just email me for more money when it gets to Hermes depot from the local courier (which I know is going to come) so I've already charged that to the buyer.

We have loads of issues with my Hermes and also yodel. Yodel don't even come in the street and regularly say we're not in and have done that on many occasions, despite someone being in the house.

its that bad we avoid companies that use either of them and would gladly pay extra for an alternative delivery company.
