Hi all, I done my first ever tandem parachute jump yesterday, and absolutely loved it! As soon as I done it, I said that I would like to do the AFF Course to become a level 8 qualified jumper, meaning you can jump on your own anywhere in the world (i think). Anyway, just wondering if anyone on here has completed the course and whether it is worth it, as it is a lot of money, but I've got the bug already haha.

Cheers in advance,

Master-Putter.

As many always used to say - why jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft with a sheet over your head :D

Never done it personally but loads of my mates in the RAF did either the P Company course to get their badge or have done loads of jumps

No idea how much it is a civvy

Did a sponsored sky dive in aid of Cancer Research many years ago, after making a brave alcohol pledge after a few drinks with work colleagues. Never ever again. Hated every second of it and if I hadn't raised a decent amount of cash I'd not have done it at all

Haha, the adrenaline rush is insane though! Anyhow, each to their own I guess

Would love to do it. The is a course I can do for around £400 which includes 5 static jumps and a possibility of making the 6th a free fall.

Currently I'm about half a stone too heavy though so have to sort that out first. Definitely want to go all out though and just do it myself. Tandem I'd need to lose even more weight!

I would recommend putting another stone on, just to be on the safe side.

Use a double sheet instead of a single :)

To me it is the same as going 50 feet under water with a tank on your back. Why? If we were meant to swim under water we would have gills.

A friend of mine is bitten by the parachuting bug, i think he has done all his bits now and can jump when are where he likes. seeing him in the week prob, so will try and find out how much its cost, how long its taken etc.

As a SCUBA diver, my take is - if something goes wrong 50 feet underwater, I know I can swim. If something goes wrong 5,000 feet in the air....

Cant comment on any course but I did my one and only tandem jump in Queensland, Oz 20yrs ago, really warm of course and we landed on the beach. Whole experience took 1hr 20 mins door to door, it was fantastic and one of the best and most memorable things I've ever done. I'm no adrenaline junkie and expected to be terrified but although a bit anxious flying up, the jumping part was just a pure thrill and I was really disappointed when they opened the chute (not suicidal, just wanted more freefall!)

I did a tandem skydive in Cuba about 15 years ago, although I really enjoyed it I'll never do it again.
Best bit was landing 15 feet from my sun lounger, collapsing on it then having 5 treble rum punches to get over the buzz

Did a static line jump for comic relief around 2000 at 1500 ft and I hated absolutely every minute of it and would never do it again.

I've done loads, I did one a few years back for a charity and the buzz was still great, but now I have to go to the doctors every time I want to jump so I don't bother as much as I used to, when you hit 50+ its much more paperwork and health checks which I understand but the doctors want £50 a time for the check-up required
