Just back from the annual golf trip to the highlands and pleased to say that my favourite course didn't disappoint second time round. It's just really enjoyable. I had a bit of a mare, score-wise, last year but this is better, eh guys?

The 2 blobs cost me something in the 70's. But 80 it is. A birdie, 12 pars, 3 bogies & 2 trebles. Oh, what could have been?

The 8 on the 6th was my usual short-game madness after a good drive and a 5 iron out of light rough to just short of the green. Proceeded to skull a wedge, then put the ball in the bunker with my fourth, took two to get out and a couple of putts later I'm gutted.
:D

The 7 on the 9th was just a duck-hooked lost ball into the gorse and a 5 with the second ball.

Highlights? Driving the par 4 3rd with my five wood (then 3-stabbing); birdie at the 8th after a lovely 5 iron to 9 feet... and a few others,

The course was playing pretty short and forgiving from the green tees. At the par 5 2nd I had drive and 5 iron to the side of the green, and at the 18th it was only drive and six iron through the back. 10 of the 15 of us scored over 30 points that day. Got perfect weather and the greens made putting pretty easy from 10 feet in mostly. I can't wait to watch the Scottish Open and play the course again.

I deliberately didn't take much video as I was concentrating on my round but I have a couple of minutes of a few of my favourite holes, this time in HD, which will go up on YouTube later.

Quality weekend. See some of you at Dalmahoy tomorrow, guys

:D

John, what did you do to Clarky????

He hardly muttered or uttered a word in that video! Thats not the smae guy who I played with at Spey Valley last year, that Clarky never shut up or stopped laughing the whole way round, all 7118 yards of it!

:D :D :D :D :D

Er, don't worry, Crawford. He had plenty to say, as usual. It's just on the cutting room floor, for sake of good taste. And you should have seen the Ricky Fowler get-up he played in at Nairn Dunbar. Oof.

That brought back some memories John. Not just the course, but Gavin was with you as well. I Played with him there on the GM meet. He can't still be playing off 24 the way he was hitting the ball there.

19 points JF? not fancy the back nine? :D
really still fresh in my mind, that course. Pity for me that its so akward to get to otherwise Id be doing it at least once a year. Im hoping our trip to Donegal this weekend will have the same weather as we got for the day at Castle Stuart, Spey can keep the rain!

He played very well apart from a few tired shots towards the end. 30 points off 22. After 28 at Nairn Dunbar the previous day he had already beat the wooden spoon winners score for 3 rounds! Good times.
