How many par 3s would you expect to hit relative to your h/c ?

As a 17 h/c I normally reach 2/3 greens per round, our 5 par 3s are 152,183,175,202 and 165 yards, so no really short par 3s, it's got me wondering if this is a good return for a 17 h/c.

Be interesting to hear from others with a similar h/c to mine.

I am a 19 handicap and get most my pars from par 3s. Expect to get 2 or 3 GIR for them. HDID says I par or better 46% of the time on par 3s.

Depends on the length of the hole and the size of the green.....
None of our par 3s are easy to hit and stay on, even though 1 of them is quite large!
Previous club had 6 par 3s and 2 were less than 130 yards - most would expect to hit that
A 200 yard + par 3 is a difficult hole

We have 5 par 3s. Off the white tees, two of them are tough to hit reliably. One of them is relatively straight forward though the tee shot is over water. The other two should be easy to hit, but sometimes nothing is easy in this stupid game we play.

Our par 3's off the whites:

1st - 229
6th - 178
8th - 139
11th - 178
13th - 186
17th 218

Of those I would always look to hit the 8th as a given (but don't regularly). The first is a real test as an opener so will always take a 4. I'm having real issues with our 6th which has tight OOB right and it bites in left so its about 15 yards left of the green. The 11th is another I think I should hit regularly (but again don't do so as much as I should). The 13th plays longer than the yardage and has a dip short and dead ground before the green so it has to be carried all the way. Again, I'll take four. The 17th is another tough one with OOB very tight left the length of the hole and deep rough about 15 yards to the right of the hole and protected by bunkers left and right.

I can hit all of them but if I'm being honest, if I hit one per round in regulation at the moment I'm happy. If (and a big IF) I play well I'd look to hit 50% of them but as I get shots on 4/6 of these, missing them isn't always an issue on the card (aside from the 6th where I can't post a score at the moment)

I'm happy if I can get on 2 of our 4 x par 3's.

The front 2 are the easier of the 4 but can still be very tricky if the wind is hurting at 179 & 148 yards but the back 2 are tougher and tighter at 219 & 191 yards and are well protected and the last one is a 2-tier green.

We don't get many 2's in medals which make it always a good payout of over £20 ⛳️

Wish we had one short par 3, agree 200 yard + par 3s are hard not a fan of these much rather have a short tricky par 3 .

Thats a tough opening hole must be times when some walk off with a 5 and not get a good start.

Walked off with a 5 many times. At least in stableford it's a point. Had six and above in medals and yes not ideal especially with the second having OOB tight right on the next. I remember when I hosted a forum meet many moons ago they all mingled around the yellows which is only 165 yards and there were some shocked looks when they had a sixty yard walk back to the tee of the day

Would look to be hitting at least 2 of our 4 in a round.

1st - 183
3rd - 156
11th - 208
16th - 153

2 par 3s in the opening 3 holes is a tough exam for your ball striking! Early bogeys on them and you have to start chasing

ours are : (Black/White/Yellow tees)
5th 222 217
8th 187 184
13th 200 191
17th 174 162

to be honest if i hit 2 of them im very happy ... still getting used to the course but even off 6 h/cap im still struggling to play these Par 3's well !!!

whites yellows

188 167
174. 164
150 140
178 173

Hate super long par 3s. I expect to hit them all. doesn't always happen. if I double any I am fuming.

A lot of time of I play the par 3s poorly I am chasing for the rest of the round trying to repair the damage.

Normally with an iron in hand and a perfect lie from a tee I expect to always hit the green. Doesn't always happen of course but usually due to a bad swing.

On Sunday I'm playing a course with a 238 yard par 3 and I really don't expect to hit that in regulation. Might even lay up....

Today i hit all 4 par threes. 175, 7i 201 3i, 85, gw, and 178 7i. Longest put i had was about 20 ft, shortest was on the first par 3, at 18 inches. One under for the par 3s today. Happy bunny.

Tomorrow is medal. I get shots on two of them, and they will be 20 yards longer. If i get away with 14 shots for them i will be happy.

We missed every one of the greens between us in today's Greensomes but we parred them all 😜⛳️
