Par 3 this morning...

So I went for my lesson this morning but turns out the one pro who was giving me my lessons had left, not sure why, but there you go.

So the head pro is taking over my lessons now. I couldn't have my lesson this morning but he gave me some free range tokens to use instead and I rebooked for next weekend. I hit a couple of range tokens and went on to play the Par 3 course.

I was playing my irons really well on the Par 3 this morning! I hit 7 out of the 9 greens from the tee, something I've never done before, I've never even done 2 out of the 9 before! So was really really chuffed with myself!

But my putting was horrendous!!!!

I was taking almost 3 - 4 putts on each hole. I only Par'd 1 hole.

Good thing my lesson next weekend is on Putting and Pitching, so I'll get to some proper pointers in how to line up a swing a putter properly. Oddly though, putting is usually my strong point.

Onwards and upwards, my iron play has increased dramatically, hope now that it does't regress from here as I'm really happy with it, obviously it can always get better and I want it to, just as long as it doesn't go down.

Well played. To be honest on winter greens, whether a par 3 course or not, it's easy to 3 putt as the quality isn't that good right now. I managed some three putts yesterday (at costly times as it turned out) and got a horrible bobble several times. Nothing you can do as long as you put a good stroke on it. I'm sure the putting lesson will help, especially in terms of the address and stroke and you just need to go out after the lesson and work on it

Try and get yourself out on the longer course if you can Khal. Par 3s are great for practising shorter game, but you are in a similar position to me, and I think the longer courses are the best opportunity to put your lessons into place! When you play an 18 hole course you can give your Pro a lot more feedback on your game, which in turn makes the lessons far more constructive.

My new years resolution is to break 100 consistently, and today..... I shot 100....:D ! I had / have an issue with my 2nd iron shot and clean striking the ball, after feeding that back to my pro, he made a very quick fix and it made a phenomenal difference to my game.

God made sure I didn't start getting too confident though and the final 6 holes were played in a downpour, the last two holes which i hit 7 on each (was probably on for 96/97 before), was torrential rain with wind. Killer! ha ha.

Well played on hitting 7/9 greens

Yeah im not a particularly good putter. One of the better tips ive ever recieved is imagine theres a 3ft bin lid round the hole, try and forget aiming for the hole and just try and land your putt in that 3ft circle, then tap your next putt in.....but i always forget this and try and hole evrything no matter where i am, and often fly it past the hole.
