I am a total novice when it comes to this sort of thing and, for me and anyone else in the same boat, could someone explain in the simplest way the steps needed to produce these moving smileys on a post.
Just pretend your trying, for the tenth time, to explain to a teenager how to do a quadratic equasion. Mind you in my case it was more than ten and still remains one of lifes mysteries.

Thanks for replying Bladeplayer. I have checked General Settings and am on the full posting choice (if you see what I mean).
The only way I can access the available smilies is to click on "you may post replies - smilies are on" and drag a smilie to the posting box. I have a feeling this is not quite the way to do it. Am I correct?

Go into settings , then go to "General settings" (down the left hand side) then scroll right down to "miscelanious options " last section i think .. there is an option there called "message editor interface" then "enhanced interace" wysiwy" i think its the 1st option , select that , go down the bottom & save . see how you go ,
then when you go to reply there should be a smiley option in top centre of the reply box .. thats about as much knowledge i have aswell mate ..

Bladeplayer. Thanks for your reply. I had done all as you suggested a long time ago but stupidly never took any notice of the little yellow blob at the top of the reply box. Still it has helped Snelly and possibly other forumers
