Palmer- new Scottish Course

So Arnold is building a course here at Castle Stuart and Trump is building another course as well at Trump international http://www.bunkered.co.uk/golf-news/arnold-palmer-to-build-first-scottish-course

do we have enough prestige courses in Scotland while so many clubs are struggling or is this a good thing for golf and the local economy?

I would say it's a good thing for the economy but not necessarily for 'British' golf. The yanks will come over and add these courses to their itinery so that will generate lots of revenue and jobs. No doubt there will be special rates for members of Scottish clubs a la Kingsbarns and Trump etc so that will keep the locals happy too. The only people who don't gain are the rest of the UK golfers.

TBH Im not sure it will be good for the local economy. They are building a Hotel on site and Dormy houses so i expect they will be getting Americans over who will stay in that acom, eat and drink there and not leave the site. Most groups that come up currently play 3 or 4 courses, so local courses apart from Dornoch will more than could see a drop in visitors.

Probably agree with this, think a lot of the other courses in the area will see a drop. Nairn probably ok but the likes of Tain/Brora etc that folk might have tagged onto a trip are unlikely to get a look in now.

Starting the other side of the practice ground, then the other side of the castle, the following the sore the other side of the bay to the par 3 fourth towards Inverness, then back.

There is talk the new course could be a members course!!!!

Two of the guys i play with have dealings with the Highland Links set up and say Arnie is coming over to get involved as he's never done a links before!!

Think he designed the Links course at Tralee on the west coast of Ireland
