One of my pals has just come home from playing Augusta and he's e-mailed me some photos.

Two words.

"Jammy" and .........

..... "chap"

Twice Club Champion at Nairn Golf Club. Any thoughts on what he scored, guys?

P.S. I've yet to hear the full story myself...so I don't know yet.

How did he manage that? I'd say that he scored in the high 80s.

I was once offered a round at Augusta as a guest of a member, but I first had to buy £30,000 (I think it was)worth of shares in Disney. It was one of those unsolicited calls from the States trying to get investors. Needless to say I didn't do it. The guy was on the 'phone for about 30 minutes. I don't know who the member was, but I doubt if it was Mickey Mouse.

Lucky GIT!!! only kidding m8 I reckon he shot an 87 and was over the moon with it.

I heard Butch Harmon saying the greens were very quick when he played it last week, not good for us amatures.

Id say he did quite well and hit mid eighties at most. Dont forget a well manicured course is easier to play than a bad one, then again add in water etc and it is a bit more difficult.

i don't care what he scored john my friend he could have scored 150+ and i would still shake his hand ,i am still in awe that he played at this hallowed course, lucky jammy so and so

Am sure it was that great scottish commentator arthur montford once said a scratch amateur golfer would not break 100 round augusta

Ah, Divot, how wrong old Arthur was then.

Hawd yer hats.....

............ 81 !!

It was his third visit, though, and I guess it helps when your home course has the fastest greens in the UK and you've swung a club since you were 4.

Mr A in question plays off 5, is furthest right in the top photo.

That's the 4th hole, the first par 3 on the course. Not too familiar, since they've only just started televising the front 9 at the Masters.

Indeed. Great score.

He asked me to join him on holiday a few years back for "some golf in America". I was skint at the time so had to decline.

Little did I know I would have played Augusta, Spyglass, Pebble Beach, Cypress Point and some other duff course.

Doh !!

.....I'll get my coat
