Pairs tonight - alternate shot / Rib break

Anyone think I have any chance - my partner broke a rib yesterday...

Not sure to what extent he's injured, but we have this tonight and a betterball match tomorrow. He is going away this weekend and the matched need to be played this month. so its now or never and we'd be out.

Think tomorrow we have half a chance if i play ok, but in alternate shot, it could be over on the 10th! Haha

Surely, if he's genuinely injured, you could get an extension of the deadline to play your match?

If he has a busted rib, then FFS don't let him even try to play! Even if you can't get an extension, it would be madness for him to try to play, there are some injuries that you can grit your teeth and play through, but a broken rib ain't one of them.

I agree. Its going to do him no favours in the short, medium or long term trying to play with that sort of injury. If you can't get an extension do the sensible thing and concede

I broke a rib. Painful, but there isn't much you can do to help it. Equally, not much will make it worse. If he can play, then heck, play it. You won't get an extension.

Yeah, my mate thought that.....until he fell and his previously broken rib punctured his lung! (not playing golf though)

Clumsy? Probably. Unlucky? Definitely. Avoidable? Yes.

I broke 2 and couldn't get out of bed to pee unaided never mind swing a golf club!

Well, we played. And we won.

Not sure how badly injured he is, he carried his bag and swung softer that usual i guess. The hospitals dont x-ray for broken ribs and they just told him thats what they think he's done....i think its possibly muscular as there are many muscles and tendons in the area that couls cause a lot of pain if damaged too.

He was spluttering a bit mainly when picking the bag up and putting it back down. He played well, maybe because he was playing within himself?

We are not going to be able to reschudule the games so we are out again in a bit, for a betterball game. 5&4 last night and i didnt do much to contribute at all!
