Dear All
Following madandra's plea, I'd like to know how other people cope with golfer's elbow, which in my case has got worse just as my golf has got better. I manage to ignore it on the course, but after a couple of days of golf it really does play up - a sharp shooting pain on the inside point of the joint (and yes, I do know my elbow from other parts of my anatomy!)
Years ago I suffered similarly (probably more so) playing tennis but as my game improved it disappeared.
I'd rather not resort to the dreaded steroid injections (rumoured to be painful and of limited effect) so if anyone has any other ideas re my swing or alternative therapies, please let me know. Just don't tell me to rest it when the sun is shining at last!

If moving your elbow or trying to lift something upwards causes pain that runs from the inside of your elbow to the inside of your wrist then, this is a good sign you have golf elbow

The treatment is generally R-I-C-E; rest, ice, compress and elevate along with taking some anti inflammatory medications. However, you gotta get a proper diagnosis to make sure its not a tear or anything more serious.
Sorry to say REST!!! but its the best method and the sun is forecast to stay with us for a while.

I suffered from this quite alot last year, and also swelling around the outside of the elbow as well. My doctor recommended lots of rest, and ice/heat treatments.

After a lay off of a couple of weeks the pain pretty much cleared up, I also use a strapping just to keep the elbow supported but luckily it seems to have pretty much cleared itself up now....

Also carry a packet of anti-inflammatory tablets in the bag just in case.

Hope you sort the problem out soonest!

What do you do during the day? If on the computer using the mouse alot, depending on your movements, this can add to the problem as well. Wrist/arm support when on the pc has helped me in the past - turns out, it wasn't the golf that was causing the problem.

Hope you can sort it as is both annoying and painful...

I had the same problem AliB and had the cortizone injections which were fine for a few days, suffice to say the best cure was to go under the knife, it's a simple enough procedure and your in and out the same day.

Might sound a bit extreme depending on your level of pain, but to be rid of it once and for all is just wonderful.

Wow, Madmac, didn't know surgery was an option. what do they do exactly? (if you don't mind going public!)
Have to confess I think mine is made worse by use of mouse and am hoping to sort out seat/desk position soon.
