Someone want to explain this, not just the size, which is ridiculous but, it was murder getting into it, I had to stab it with scissors to cut it open!

You have hit upon one of my pet hates; packaging and the idiots that design it.
No consideration seems to be given to the circumstances in which the product is going to be used, for instance with cooking ingredients only one hand may be free or that hands may be wet or greasy.
As for blister packaging!! Surely it should never be necessary to have a Stanley knife handy just to open a package.
Pity the packaging designers don't have to deal with their own products.

Crime prevention/reduction; shrink it to the size of the cartridge and it is easily stuffed into a pocket, as it would be if it was easily removable from the oversize package. Mens razor blades are apparently one of the most stolen items from supermarkets for this reason (and because they are ridiculously expensive!).
