Played my singles knock-out against the club champion today. He had to give me 13 shots and ended up beating him 3&2. He was 2 up after 9 and I ended up 1 over on the back 9

Best game I have ever played.

Nicely done.

I beat the club captain in the first round and last years champ in the second :D

First year playing matchplay and loving it.

sounds like a bit of jelousy there its not his fault he drew a 4 handicapper i cant imagine what you would have said if he played a scratch player

No jealousy - simply that if I had to give someone >10 shots then the odds are stacked against me.

Sorry but got to disagree. Thats what the handicap system is all about. If a higher handicapper has a good day he deserves to win but he is just as likely to throw a few holes away with bad shots. I played a single figure guy and he had to give me 3 shots. He done me 4&3 and I think he was only +3 gross and had had 3 birdies. I didn't mind a good player having an equally good day and losing

Well done pulling it back from 2 down, could've quite easily buckled under the pressure 10 shots or not.

1over on the back 9 is a great knock off your handicap.

This comes up time and again.

It's been linked to before, but somewhere on either the R&A or CONGU website there is an article saying that the low man is favoured something like 55-45 even off full allowance.

I'd much rather be giving 10 shots than receiving them.
