Outer Hebrides golf

Family holiday in the outer Hebrides and Skye this year and I think I'll be allowed one game and one game only.

Narrowed it down to either Barra or Askernish,but looking to see if some kind soul could sway me either way?

I've followed the discovery of Askernish from the start so that's a clear favourite just now, but Barra also looks like fun...any personal recommendations?

Not played out there at all but if it's going to be your only trip to the area then I'd be tempted to go with Askernish - gets awesome write ups

I han't played either course but i have visited Barra . you would describe it as golf how it used to be, the greens have fences around them to keep the sheep out. the course is set up across the nat landscap.

Askernish look very nice indeed, i expect to be playing it sometime this year.

Askernish if its only to be one.

Definitely Askernish.
Golf as it should be. Course architect was a Mr Nature assisted by a Mr Morris.
Don't expect manicured greens or anything posh but a complete no brainer as far as I am concerned.
The wee 9 holer at Harris is also very good, if you can take your eyes off the views to see the course.
Last time I was there I watched three golden eagles work the hills above the course. Must have been a mother and two young which is most unusual.

Yep, Askernish does look something special, unless someone can suggest otherwise, I'll be playing there.

I've hired a motorhome mate,given time constraints I was considering not doing Harris/Lewis and just Barra/Uist then over to Uig?

Take your waterproofs, but dont bother with a brolly it will be too windy , reminds me of that song by the Hothouse flowers...

Good idea the motor home, the islands are pretty switched on to them. Mind you I would not want to drive one on the East Harris roads,

If you have not got your holiday planned I would go Harris and South Lewis. Means missing Askernish though!

We did the top to bottom bit in 2012 and took a cottage on Harris last year.
