2-3 weeks ago I was hitting my driver like a dream. One or the strongest parts of my game in fact. ..... but now for the last 2 weeks I've gone completely to pot, only managed 1 decent drive today and that was 3 off the tee.

The club feels alien in my hands... I don't even know how to grip it correctly (or so it feels). Pretty much ruined my round today and ended with a 96......

Bring on the hours back down the range!

Fickle game this! Back to basics on the range - grip, stance, alignment etc as probably something on those lines. I find the better I'm hitting something the better I try to hit it and suddenly what worked doesn't anymore because I've actually stopped doing it!

I'm the same, having hit my driver really solid for a few weeks. Second and third guessing over it and feels awkward but can't figure out what - yet...not used to not knowing what direction the ball will go off the tee!

But you still persisted in trying to hit it! Excellent 'course management' - Not!

Not actually a horrendous score given the Driving issues though. From memory, only a few holes where accurate Driving is essential though. Just a case of avoiding the 'definitely wrong' places!

A few rounds back when I found my driver was not my friend that day, on coming to the toughest tee I "chickened" and took my lowest iron out - a five.
As a high handicapper I learned a valuable lesson when I hit a great tee shot and saw that the hole was just as achievable by a different combination of shots.

Fair enough!

That's probably why you are still off 21 then, rather than closer to your goal for the year of 16!

It's called having a Plan B!

Lol you know me 100%.... nothing like throwing around assumptions :smirk:
