I'm hoping that on Sunday evening we'll see a British or Irish golfer lifting the Claret Jug. I don't care if his name is Harrington or Casey, Rose or Poulter, Fisher or McDowell. Clarke or Montgomery would be fine but I can't see it. McGinley?
Anyway, let's wish them all the best!

Donald has pulled out due to a wrist injury... i hope Poulter trips over his own ego and really hurts himself. I'd like to see Westwood win it...or better still Mr Rose seen as he's family...

I think some of "our" guys have a great chance. I couldn't say who is the most likely......but I will enjoy watching.....can't wait.

Heart says Eurpope, Head says it'll be an American.

Can't include Monty in my hopes though sorry

BBC weather says heavy rain tomorrow wind at 20mph similar Friday then getting better towards sunday so hopefully that will suit the Europeans more than our transatlantic cousins.Plus bright sunshine on Sunday should mean plenty of low scores, could be a case of hanging in on the bad weather then making a charge.

Got myself a ticket (freebie ) by the looks of things for Friday, first time at any tournament what a one to break your duck with can't wait!

Good luck chaps make us proud ;)

Monty has a habit of opening his mouth on the course before engaging his brain. Now he was really out of line for saying what he did, though it is true the press & the cameras do intrude maybe a bit too much at times, whith on-course comentators, getting too close whilst doing their comentary. It was only a matter of time before a player lost his wrag with one of the media people.

Yes it might be true that the media are ther because of the likes of Monty. Which is perhaps what he ment to say, though not really much more tactful.

However that argument could also be turned on its head, as without the press & the media & the various TV companies providing coverage, there would not be sponsorship there is & the pro's whould be still earning what they did 40 or 50 years ago, rather than being multi millionaires, for the best & famous. Some of the players are forgeting that too

We of course don't know what happened prior to Montys outburst, prior to the microphone catching what led to it.

On top of that Apparently he has appologised personally to the technician involved, as well as in public.

But have we forgiven him... NO. Perhaps we should be as ashamed of ourselves as he is of himself for letting himself loose it on the course in public.

Getting back on topic now, as for who I'd like to win

McDowell
Jiminez
Westwood
Garcia
Karlsson

There are maybe half a dozen players I'd like to win it but unfortunally like Darren Clarke never made the selection.

I could go on. But More than anything Its one of our European players I want to win & deserve to win The Open
