Orlando Golf

I will be playing the Disney courses in September. Golf clubs are free if you fly Virgin

unfortunately flying Thomson mate, we're heading out 26th August for 2 weeks, not going to just play golf so will probably only get 1 round in so want to make sure I get the right one!

Can't advise on the golf, I'm sure plenty will though, but one tip is to play early mornings at that time of year. They tend to get a lot of thunderstorms in the afternoon in August in Florida and that is not condusive to golf.

How many courses do you want to play?

If you play any of the following you wont be disappointed

Grande Cypress N/E/W any of these 9's
Celebration
Pather Lake
Crooked Cat
Southern Dunes
Waldorf Astoria
Mystic Dunes
Champions Gate Championship
Windermere
El Campeon
Orange Lake Legends

Or if you want to head out of Orlando and play a really top notch resort then look at Streamsong

i'll only have time for 1 round Val!

Southern Dunes is closed at the moment unfortunately and I don't fancy paying for how much Grande Cypress want!

There's a course called Shingle Creek right next to our Condo but unfortunately that too is closed!!

thanks mate will take a look!

I've heard the same about Orange Lake

I played both courses twice in April. The Legends is a great layout but hasn't been looked after in the last few years. We stay onsite and as my inlays are owners I only paid $35 which is about what it is worth in its current state. The Reserve is pretty bad. The greens are actually not bad but the tee boxes and green surrounds are full of weeds and sand making short game almost impossible. I also played preferred lies on the fairway more often than not. Luckily I only paid $20 for that.

If your next to Southern Dunes then play it, there aren't many better

Apparently modelled on Scottish links courses with less water than normal in Florida.
Another vote for Celebration if Southern Dunes doesn't open in time.

At least The Hulk will be open again by then :D

Reported to be the best greens in Orlando and certainly the best i've played on out there, reports are they are better than Bay Hill.

thanks very much mate,

the rate is very good in comparison to other top courses too!

The only thing i'm gonna be stung on is rentals!

I've had limited experience in Orlando but having played Falcons Fire, Celebration & The Bay Hill Club they were all very good. Really depends on what you want to spend and what service you want.
