Hi all

I work for a bank in London and on and off people have said we should organise a golf day - so I'm going to do it.

Some of the people are old Etonians etc so I need to find somewhere "nice" to go.

So far we have 12 people interested in going who live from Kent to Reading to Cambridge - so I'm looking for somewhere within a suitable distance for all that we can book for a weekend morning in October.

Where would you suggest?

Thanks

Adam

Budget isn't a concern - players range from 28 to 5.

If the budget is good then

The Grove
Wentworth
Woburn

if you want saturday morning tee times then youre either going to need a venue that has more than one course I would expect, youre going to struggle to get on at 1 course members clubs on a saturday morning for sure (you may get on somewhere like the Grove but at a cost). In addition to those already mentioned Brocket Hall would be worth considering

Depends on price per head but I think Camberley would be a decent option. Great course and pretty easily reached via motorways from the South. Not sure you'll ever get anywhere to please everybody

If you cant get on a course have you though tabout the indoor golf venues in London.. all can have adrink then and just let the train take the strain too.. after work option then also.
Saturday mornings would be difficult at most places... "money no issue" clubs members might raise their noses a little higher!

The Addington is a good option - it is never busy unless there is a tournament and they hosted a good work golf event we did last year.

Someone recommended the Shire - I wouldn't recommend it. The place has no soul and the 1st green is 90% goose poo!

Yep, Essendon is a great shout, do they still have the Japanese influence there? I thought this was brilliant when I went and everything was up to standard and beyond.

I played there last year and thought it was average at best. It said they have 2 greens per hole on the course I played and in reality they had 1 decent ish green and 1 temp green that wasn't as good as there tee boxes. Food was OK as well.

Woburn would be a good shout as long as they have the availability for a weekend morning.

My club could be suitable

Saturday and Sunday societies allowed
18 or 27 hole packages available
One of the best clubhouses around
Bag between reading and Kent 10 mins from junction 6 m25

It's not a London club or foxhills, but is owned by foxhills, in great condition and wouldn't be too punishing on the 28 cappers.... Good size fleet of buggies too

The London Club gets my vote, right on the edge of the M25 in north Kent so perfect for access, and it should be in good nick ahead of the European Tour event there in October. It costs £95-105 in October on a Sunday and £70-£80 from November 1st.

Hadley Wood. Superb course. Shouldn't be too expensive. Mackenzie design (of Augusta fame) and was designed before Augusta as well. Going to play there on Friday and can't wait (golf game willing!)
