Hi all,

Me and a couple of friends played behind the medal today. I was putting my 2nd handicap card in. The conditions were extreme with the high winds and I managed a personal best 12 over 84. I believed that meant I would get a 12 handicap if I made a mess of my last card. I was chatting with Fundy later and he broke it too my that CSS was 75 today and that I would be getting a 9 handicap. Once he had finished laughing at me he listed the amount of shots I would be give our various friends and to list the 2 holes he would give me shots on.

I guess I hit it here... Now I have to play it.

I will fall asleep with a huge grin though!!!

Great shooting Al, my texts were a tad tongue in cheek. Not totally sure they will use the CSS over the SSS (though expect that they should). 84 in those conditions was some round, in the medal only 1 golfer broke 80, and plenty of single fingure handicaps didnt break 90 and at least one didnt break 100!

Gun to my head I expect you may well get 12, even that would be on the low side I think (and we're not gonna know for a few weeks as youve still got another card to put in!)

Thanks, 9... 12... I'll die happy.

30 putts helped, only 13 on the back 9. All you have to do is threaten to replace your putter and it catches on fire. There was a 7,8 and a 5 on a par 3 in there too....:o

I don't think they can use the competition CSS for you handicap cards unless you are in the medal but I might be wrong. For your sake I hope they don't. Single figures is nice, but only if its accurate. My first h'cap was nine thanks to a rogue 9 over on one of my cards. I went up to 11.6 before getting my 1st cut

Either way CSS ,SSS even if they use they SAS ;) that's good shooting man , congrats , get the 3rd card in , get the Official H'cap & get playing

Hehe, CSS, SSS, SAS... Ill never play to it again so it might as well be as low as possible!! :D It will give me a bigger buffer.

Na I dont really think that, I cant wait to get the last card in and let the fun begin!

I got the below from http://www.club2000.co.uk/help-support,congu-handicapping-questions

"After all cards are adjusted (reducing down scores of over 2 over par (for men, 3 over for ladies) the best card is taken. Your handicap (exact and playing) is then calculated as the number that score differs from the Standard Scratch Score (NOT PAR)."

It is the only thing I can find that covers this topic. I take this to mean that handicaps are calculated from SSS. It makes sense I guess as CSS is Competition Standard Scratch.

Shame, but for the best I guess....

SSS must be used for handicap allocation. How other players played on the same day is an irrelevance.

And yet that system is used from now on........

Just sayin'.........................

And great shooting Al - gonna be hard work off a low number at yours for a while.
Good Luck

Thanks buddy, I like hard work, keeps me interested! things have been coming together slowly slowly over the last few months. Having a good pro has really helped me focus my ridiculous amount of practice into something that is actually helping. Some check points if you like. Ball striking is acceptable and if I chip and putt well then good scores are now available to me.

I think 9 would have been too much.... would have been a nice buffer for a while though.... :D
