I've been using a trusty Ping Anser for a few seasons now but I've made the mistake of dabbling with different putters mid season. I've ended up buying a rife Barbados and its put me in a bit of a pickle.
The problem appears to be distance control, it just seems really erratic and a bit if a lottery tbh,but the flip side is that its pretty lethal from around 5 foot in.
The rife seems to just hug the green and really put the brakes on especially on uphill putts and it really is taking some getting used to.
Im willing the putter to come good due to it feeling so good at close range, but Its struggling to convince me.
Has anyone had any similar issues with Rifes??

Rife make some pretty good putters IMHO.

When I got fitted, the final choice boiled down to my Scotty Cameron Del Mar and a Rife model (..... Can't remember the model, but same head shape as the Del Mar).

It was a very close choice, but in the end went for the Scotty as I found it a little more consistent. That was it.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I think the main difference with the Rife is that the metal used is very soft, it almost feels like an odyssey white hot and its just a totally different feel to what I'm used to.
Bad time of the year to be messing really, I'll give it one last chance tonight up against the trusty Ping! Keep your eyes peeled if you fancy a Rife Barbados :D

Take it the SeeMore didn't last too long then....!?

I had a Rife 2 Bar Hybrid putter and was very similar. Almost automatic on the shorter ones but the trouble was getting the distance right on the approach putts. That had an insert (still the grooves) I think though.

Through my (extensive) collection of putters I've found distance control more of an issue with the larger mallets in general though.

Interesting mate, Thanks  I haven't used a mallet for a long time and after using this Rife and the the confidence it inspires within 6ft I can't help thinking Theres something better for me out there....

I knew I shouldn't of tinkered :smirk:
