So I'm moving house in about six months (I'm in a temporary locaion currently) but still wanted to play some golf in the meantime and work on my handicap.
What are your thoughts on public golf courses that have golf clubs attached to them? I could pay the club a membership fees of £60 for six months plus then pay as you play on the public course. The course isn't great but I went recently and it seems to have fared reasonably through the winter.
I'd only go a couple of times a month but this seems a fairly decent deal until I'm buying my new house.

where is this course, is sounds simular to a set up we have.

£60.00 per yer, congu hadicap with around 40-50 comps per year, and you just pay comp entries and greenfee's, which can be discount if you have a smart card.

Seems a good idea. One of are local muni's. Does £50year plus green fee. Keep up your H/C. plus preferential books on Saturday for comps. Its a good course to, hold a few opens each year.

It's Uxbridge. As I say, not a good course but I'm looking for something cheap to keep a handicap going. There are a couple of genuinely nice holes on there so it's fine for practise. Plus if I use teetimes.co.uk or one of those pleaces I can get some really cheap green fees.

More commonly known locally as Harefield Place... Back in the day before council leased the course of to private companies Harefield was a great course to play and was kept in above average condition despite the high number of rounds played there... I was a member in them days and the club was well run by the 'volunteers' on the committee...

Been a while since I played there [due to recent civil engineering works through the course] don't think they play 18 holes anymore...

Not knowing exactly where you are based... Ruislip or Haste Hill might be a better option...

Depends on the course ,
Ive got a 7 day course membership at my local course
im pretty happy with how much i pay per month

I play on muni's - am more than happy with them. Club houses are good, courses OK, people are smashing :D
