With a few people thinking that Ping are for the older gentlemen ;) and others claiming Callaway are for the hackers, I was wondering what people thought of when they think of various club manufacturers.

Personaly when I think of Mizuno & Titleist, I think of skilled players with an air of coolness. Not sure why, possibly because the blades look amazing.

I look forward to peoples views and reasons for them.

Just to put it in perspective........

The Callaway "hackers" won the Masters yesterday, and the Ping "Old Boys" came second.

Not bad for crap clubs eh.

:D :D

I don't really assocuate any manufacturer with any type of player. I love Ping clubs but am firmly in the "if it works for you, us it" category.

I'm not overly fussed what the name is on the club. Over the years I've used Wilson, Mizzy, Cally, and TM in various models and its about what I thought would be right for me. I am a huge fan of the I15 and regret not getting them instead of the R9's but on the other side pleased that I got my TP's so its all swings and roundabouts. I like the AP1 and AP2 although find them a tad heavy and the X22 Tours are a decent offering. There are so many good clubs around that its becoming harder I think to stay loyal to any particular brand without at least considering the alternatives. I would never have thought of going anywhere near the I15's but once I hit them they were a fantastic club.

Most manufactures have a model in their range that technically will suit every type and level of golfer. Some brands are better known as being particularly good in one area or another. Not sure if that's fact or our perception.

It all comes down to personnal preference, on looks and feel. But yes, some brands are peceived as being for a particular market. No doubt my son will grow up thinking that Mizuno are an old mans club, because I use them.
