Opening Ceremony at Celtic Manor

Great to see Pavin and Monty giving the ridiculously banal questions about their pairings the answers that they deserve!

Very OTT but then I suppose they've got to got to town otherwise people would moan that enough wasn't made of the start of the tournament.

I liked Pavin forgetting to introduce Cink.

I also liked Monty especially thanking his Wife. Was it for past efforts or future climbs? :o

Fowler looked like he was enjoying it - as did Tiger once he'd got a good reception.

I thought Pavin just shaded the opening speeches...still all square though...

The pairings look good as well - I can't wait now!!! :D

Thought Pavin was a smart arse with some of his answers ,ok the questions weren't the greatest but come on, small man syndrome me thinks.

Cannot be to surprised at a dull opening ceremony although the lovely Di Stewart did give some reason to stay awake, even if her level of questioning was as bad as it comes.

Did anyone else notice booing when Monty introduced Luke Donald and the other English players . What was that all about? I thought we were the home team.

Anyway thankfully it's time to get on with the golf

What a pile of tosh.

Toe curlingly over the top.

Who made you watch it?

I thought it was quite good apart from Di asking stupid question's!

Luke Luke sounded very much like booo booo booo to me,

It's on sky now saying they couldn't get enough out-fits for all the ladies Tiger wanted to bring!

Agree, thought it was ok apart from the questions after each pairing was announced.

I wonder if the teams had been submitted in advance or did Monty have that wee opportunity to shift his pairings after Pavin announced his?

It was pretty standard fair for this sort of thing. Thought it was funny that Paving forgot to announce Cink and so maybe the curse of Faldo has struck (and we'll get the right result). Poulter playing with Woods twice. Always good to see the world No 1 and 2 (in Poulter's words) up against each other ;)

I thought most of Tiger's "lady" friends didn't require clothing.

Seriously though I thought Di Stewart did a great job. You can't expect in depth questioning at the opening ceremony and I thought Pavin was just being awkward.
Go Europe!!!

Thought it was ok given that opening ceremonies for big sporting events are usually pretty poo.

Thought Di Stewart's questions scaled new heights of stupidity...........and the rendition of Bread of Heaven as they were all filing out - did anyone else notice how not one american wag went within 5 paces of Tiger?!!! - was quite possibly the WORST I've ever heard!!

Must admit though that both captains wives were looking good! :D
