Just back from the range and had an epiphany.

I read on hear at some point a pro had told someone to take a stance that was so wide it was nearly uncomfortable when using driver and woods.

I remembered that tonight and was striking the ball longer and more importantly the shots that went right and life were a lot closer to 'straight' than usual.

Bring on tomorrow...

Not heard that before, I know stance is wider than normal for Driver but seems a bit extreme to me. Best bit of advice I read was from a David Leadbetter book, not his biggest fan normally but this worked for me - Ensure that hands are behind clubhead at address and hover the clubhead just off the ground before you start you takeaway ensuring you will connect with the ball on the upswing. Sounds simple I know but on close inspection I was not doing either.

Think I've been out with a few women who would do that for a bacardi and coke (pre HID naturally - in case she sees this!). Not sure I've ever heard of it and can't really see the logic in it but if it worked for you then there must be method in there somewhere.

If you followed that advise your bottom half wouldn't be able to move in time with the swing, ouch, not for me that one.

I'm sure I read it on here, someone was told that during a lesson.

I'm now starting to think I dreampt it!

Anyway, perhaps my stance was too narrow before and that is why I have noticed a difference.

I'll have a dabble tonight and see if less wide makes a difference!

Standard advise spoff is to have the legs the same width as your shoulders. I'd start there and play around a bit until you are comfy.

Had feet slightly wider than my shoulders yesterday and hit 12 fairways, never been anywhere near double figures.

Every drive sailed away, never driven so well before.

Iron play was once again my week point and cost me a fair few shots - but, still improving with each round.
